Hi,
I was wondering whether anyone knew of a website which tells you how to optimize your website for search engines? I'm not looking for a business which does this for me, but more for instructions on how to do it, tips etc?
Thanks!

There are hundreds of websites offering such things, but for the love of god don't buy any ebooks offering help!
SEO is really quite simple.
1. Code your site well.
2. Put good content on your site.
3. Get people to link to your site.0 -

Content, content and content. Pack your site, especially your homepage with relevant keyword rich content. Make full use of your <title> tags, there is a lot of emphasis put on these by the search engines. Use header tags where you can. Fill in your meta tags, keywords and description.

Good advice. The tools in the above site I mentioned will help you analyse your pages for keywords (3-7% is a good keyword density any more it looks like spamming).
Content is King!0 -
Remember though, don't overuse your keywords within the content of your pages, you need a good keywords density(around 10%).
Google looks at the amount of text on your page, and then looks at how oftern you use your keywords, and if you use them too much it will class you as spamming.
So yes, content content content, but make sure the content is right.0
