Wii 2nd remote help

Hope this is in the correct forum!
I purchased a wii bundle which came with remote (motion +) etc and this is all working fine. I then purchased wii play with a second remote. When i first got it, i set it up and used the sync. function and tried it out...which seemed to work fine. I had also purchased a nunchuck which seemed to work with it ok.

Today (2 weeks after setting up the 2nd remote) i went to use it and its not doing anything. I cant get it to turn on, there are no blue lights and it just isnt doing anything. The batteries were new and i tried brand new ones today but am still getting nothing. Tried pressing sync again on both and ....nothing !!

Does the wii normally detect and turn on the 2nd remote automatically, and does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong or what to do!?

batteries first... definately the right way? and fully charged? you might need to resync if the batteries lost charge.

Hi...i tried with brand new batteries out a new packet and didnt help. I tried to re-sync and pressed the red button then the one on the console but neither did anything. Does it matter what 'screen' i re-sync on...is there a specific place to do it.
Also the original batteries were brand new and it was used for 15mins at most to test it...then not used for 2 weeks.

The main remote had same batteries (from the same pack) and that is still fine with full battery life shown...and i have used that loads more!

If you've not tried it already you should switch the wii off at the socket then turn back on and sync.

I had something similar happen with my remotes but only when it was attached to a Logic3 nunchuk I bought off ebay. For the first few months it was working great but not anymore. Basically both my remotes now don't work when this nunchuk is plugged in to them while they work fine with nintendo's nunchuk. I still don't know what is causing it to fail:mad:
You mentioned a nunchuk and this is what made me reply to your post. Is the nunchuk plugged in when the remote does not work?

I did try turning it on/off at the wall and then pressed sync with nothing happening. Is there a specific screeen i should be on to sync as i was doing it on the main home page (where all the boxes of applications etc are).

I had left a nunchuk attached to it whilst it wasnt in use. The nunchuck was from ebay but apparently was a proper nintendo one. I removed the nunchuck when i tried sync. There arent any of the blue lights on at all.

I might call nintendo if there is a UK help centre and see what they say.
