Hiya guys just a quick question really. Basically my situation is I have been unemployed for the majority of the last tax year so i was claiming Job Seekers Allowance. I earned around £600 before I lost my job in May 2009. I have just got a new job earning nearly £15k per yer. Can I claim working tax credit?
I know that this is worked out on the last tax year so last tax year I only earned £600. I live at home with my parents. I went onto the do i quality website and it said I was qualified to around £2500. Does this sound right or is this to good to be true? lol. Thanks for your help in advance.

Im over 25, i work 30+ hours per week. Im asking is there a gap in the system because obviously next year I would be entitled to nothing at all but because last year I hardly earned anything its saying im entitled to around £2500 per year. Does that mean whoever has been unemployed can then claim working tax credit when they get a job as last tax years earnings would be down? Seems a bit strange to me.0

i think if someone has been out of work for a certain amount of time they get a higher rate of wtc for a while until the end of the financial year i thnk. after that it gets reduced. when i had a calculation done a year ago i was told i could earn upto £270 per week and get wtc. have you tried the entitled to website?0
