I then do control alt del and i get the simens screen which i can press F12 and it goes into a screen that tells me all about my computer but i don't understand anything on it ......... many thanks for reading but hugs and kisses if you have any ideas thanks susan xx:)

sounds like it's trying to boot from a network device (eg. a PXE server) because either the bootloader has corrupted or the hard drive has failed.

Which operating system? Hopefully you have a recovery disc or partition from which you can run a repair installation.

There are too many variables to diagnose simply what the problem could be.

    Suzy,
If its windows 7 or Vista then stick the installation disk in and when setup loads choose the option to repair the existing installation.
