actually, it's in the region of 150. And malicious or not, it's still damage to the OP's property and SOMEONE is going to have to pay for the repair.

Yes, the OP in all probabilities, hence the "reduce cost answers"

And if you take the trouble to read the whole thread, you will see I was quoting the difference between the cheapest and main dealer costs, take a read back, doh...:wall::wall:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Cyclone - would you like me to recommend a good anger management class for you?

You seem to be getting rather worked up over nothing.

Hi all, thanks for all the comments. I'll shop around for some more quotes and have them written down.

I want to take the most reasonable approach possible, in order to hopefully maximise getting some money back!

Either way, I won't be taking it to court - it's just not worth the hassle and stress in my opinion. At the end of the day they could have hit it and just ridden off and I'd still be looking at paying it myself. If I have to pay it myself, I have to pay it myself - I just really wanted to know the best way to recupe some of the cash.

    Many thanks

Very good of you to assume i do not have a legal background and i know nothing of the law ;)

So, what is your legal background?

I have no opinion on the subject matter as I'm not qualified to answer it but am genuinely interested in what the correct answer is. The other posters have qualified their opinions by stating they are practicing lawyers. Perhaps you could do the same, so we can see whether you opinions count for anything or you're just a Keyboard Warrior.

    Hey Seb,

Unfortunately you win the booby prize ;) I don't feel the need to flaunt my 'credentials'. This isn't a courtroom and we are offering her our opinion.

If someone wanted actual professional legal advice, i would advise them to speak with a solicitor, not an internet forum!

So please, just because my opinion differs to yours, don't dismiss it.

I have to admit tho', ignorance does make me angry :p

I'm talking about the RTA 1988. It says that the cyclist has no obligation to stop or furnish details. - Does not detract from the fact that she did stop, the OP has her details and has admitted liability and th emost important fact being is that the bint has damaged someones elses peoperty!

    Bint???
    Who are you Basil Fawlty?
Put your Daily Mail down, take a chill pill and look at what you've been spouting out on your previous posts.
It was an accident, the mother was decent enough to say she'd pay for repairs, and yes i'd be taken aback if i found out repairs to a wing mirror were £150.
How could she do so much damage?? Was she ok?
Where was the car parked anyway, to be so near cycling 'bints'??
