Does anyone know where I can buy hardcore?

I'm laying a new garden path at the weekend and need to put some hardcore down. So does anyone know where I can get some and roughly how much it costs? I don't really want to search for it in google :eek:

Try your local skip hire company .. Ours around here sell it by the skip load .. or try your local freecycle ??

builders yards will sell it ... not sure how much it will cost though ... and buying it in scotland will be much more different from england for example

Its usually called 'hoggin' or 'scalpings' where I am and it contains a certain amount of shale & clay which help to bind it together. Comes loose or in 1 tonne bags according to how much required.

If you obtain free hardcore from sources like free ads, Freecycle etc (and there's usually plenty) then you may need some small particle ballast material to 'blind' it, that is, make the surface smoother so you don't lose too much of the more expensive top layer into the sub-base.
