DONT DO IT!!!! If you have bt broadband and Bt Calls. I did this and i was lumbered with 2 seperate bills as they bill you for broadband seperatly and you pay Vat on bothe bills. You no longer get free calls ect, so Be carefull and only do it if you calls and broadband are with a different company.0

I appreciate your concern but I think some people have got not choice but to move onto this basic tariff just to keep the line going.
I am changing simply because after calculating the bill I would be far better off with it. e.g. my actual call charge for 3 months was 27 pence, rest of £69 went for the line rental. Even if I was charged 10p per min call, I would only have used 120 mins of calls for 3 months (equivalent of £12) so I would definitely save to be on this tariff.Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Thanks for reminding me to complain about this... Just spent 40 minutes on the phone with them. If you are on monthly billing then you will now HAVE to pay all charges 3 months in advance. The first bill will be 3 months of unlimited weekend plan until you are approved for BT Basic. So my monthly bill of £33.50 turned into a demand to pay around £105 immediately. You will lose the paper-free billing discount and will be charged a £4.50 payment fee to pay the broadband by using another payment method. So I was struggling to pay £33.50 switched to BT Basic now I am being forced to pay £105. It is not saving me any money. I wish I had never done it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Also don't forget that you will not get any free evening and weekend calls so look at how many minutes you were on the phone last quarter multiply it by 0.10 and deduct 4.50 and that is what your call charges will be. You may currently only pay £4 per quarter for calls but that part will increase because you now have to pay for the free calls. If you use the phone for more than 20 minutes per week at any time then this plan will cost you more.:footie:
