  • I have used a Belinea 17" CRT monitor for about 5 years now without a problem, so would recommend the brand on that basis.

All their monitors came with a 3 year swapout warranty - is that still the case with the TFT's?

I can't get your savastore link to work to look more at the Belinea - sorry.
  • I still believe that TFT monitors have a long way to go before they reach the picture quality of CRT monitors, admittedly the look a lot better on the outside, but let’s face facts; the computer monitor is the only bit you look at, so picture quality is everything!!
Especially if you stare at it for 12 to 14 hours a day like me (sad I know)

The main problem for me is the allowable defect clause that allows a certain number of dead pixels on TFT monitors (class II) which are widely sold at all computer shops and are still be classed as serviceable?
I saw one yesterday that had two dead pixels, the owner wished he had never bought it, but was unable to return it as it was within the “allowable defects clause”

You can get a good quality 19” CRT 0.23 pitch for around £120.00 or spent around £140.00 on a 17” TFT 16ms monitor with the possibility of dead pixels and poor picture quality.

It’s widely known in the computer industry that TFT picture quality will not reach the levels of today’s CRT monitors until 2006-2007.
As tight as two coats of paint :D
