Hello, I have received the same request to upgrade to being a business seller. I have gone back twice now explaining that i am having a clear out but the next to automated customer services just restates that I am a liar

I have emailed Martin to ask if he will pick up on this. Ebay do not advertise limits on the free listing offer. Hiding behind HMG guidance on identifying traders is a way of stopping genuine de-clutterers from listing for free. I hope he does pick up on it because the "don't bin it, bay it" message we hear has just cost me two full weekends of listing and three boxes of Jiffy Bags. Surely trading standards should review this bad practise?

From this summer there will be.

Ebay have realised that the only significant thing that their free listings have done is create a platform for pound shop resellers.

Relatively few items seem to be from people having a clearout.

So they are backtracking, and not doing it too well to be honest, but at least something is being done.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

Can't you car boot instead? If you're selling your own stuff it seems like a loaf of hassle. Or sell on gumtree or something in a few job lots, that's free. cash when it's collected.

You haven't been to the car boots in my area! 99p? - I'd be lucky if I got 9p an item - people round here just will not pay anything for anything at a boot sale- I've done them on and off for years and have now firmly given up - people here ask what you want for something and if you say "50p", they say "will you take 30p?" if you say "30p" they say will you take "10p?"
You get the idea- and getting up at the crack of dawn, standing in a field for 5 hours after paying £7 for the privilege and then making about £10 profit well, it's not my idea of a good way to spend my Sunday!
Our nearest Gumtree area is 30 miles away (i.e. most readers) and nothing sells at all in our free ad paper!:(
