For a few years I have sold some of my plants at a car boot sale and they seem to go down well. Most successful are Arum Lily, Fuschia and Snapdragons from seed and hope to try to expand the selection this year.
Does anyone else have any success stories from selling things they have grown themselves?

When I was approx 14 my parents said they'd pay for most of a school skiing trip but I had to pay £200 worth. To get this, I grew veg/flowers/plants with my parents guidance and sold them either on the road at end of drive or to people we knew. Everyone loved it and I made the cash with a couple of months to spare!0

I found runner beans sold quicker than hot cakes, very easy to grow, and seem to be an impulse purchase of those who think it is too late to sow themWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0

Strawberries and tomatoes always sell like hot cakes.
People like something they can reap the rewards from quickly.0 -

If people sold hot cakes would they sell like cold strawberries & tomatoes? :rotfl:0 -
Somehow I get more attached to the produce than I do to plants - just couldn't bring myself to selling tomatoes or strawberries. Might give the fresh mint a go though as it will quickly replce itself in no time at all.0

I'm thinking of doing this too. Can I ask what compost and pots people use to keep costs down?0

I use veg growing compost from Homebase and add some nutrients prior tom planting. As for pots, a Garden Centre not far from us has a large container outside offering plant pots for free. :T0 -

Thanks Orange King. Can I ask what prices you charge for what you sell?0 -
Last year I was selling the Arum Lily plants for between £1 (for the smallish first year shoots only) and £3 - £4 for well established plants that were likely to flower or in flower. The fuschias were about £1.50 to £2 and the plants from seed £1.
As I have a much bigger choice to offer this year hopefully I was going to do a multi buy discount!0
