EON Do not believe I have left property
Options
Hi
I have just moved property, a short 10 minutes drive away and I have some outstanding debt with Eon but Eon do not believe that I have left the property despite telling calling the Landlord to confirm this.
It seems either Eon hasn't contacted the Landlord, or the Landlord hasn't returned the calls and now Eon are issuing a warrant to enter the property (or the new property, they haven't been specific) to fit a prepayment meter to clear the debt.
I'm not in a position to pay it in full, nor does there seem to be a way to convince Eon otherwise.
Any ideas?

Hi damtheman
Did you (or your Landlord) tell us you were leaving and give us meter readings for the actual day you gave up responsibility for the property?
If you did, a final bill will have been issued to these readings.
However, if we did not know of a change of responsibility we will have continued billing as though you were still there.
It takes a fair amount of time to reach the stage where a warrant is issued to fit a Prepayment Meter. Has a debt been building up previously at the old property?
Do we supply the new property?
Sorry for all the questions damtheman, just trying to build up a picture of what might be happening here.
A letter advising we are applying for a warrant will have been sent out. This will give details of the property involved.
The best thing to do is give us a call as soon as possible. Ask what the situation is. Make sure the old account has been a closed to the day you gave up responsibility (a Tenancy Agreement will help here) and a final bill issued accordingly.
Once the correct amount of debt has been established, ask for a payment arrangement to spread the outstanding balance over a manageable period.
Sorry this is a bit sketchy but not quite sure of the actual situation. If you let me know a few more details I will see what other advice I can offer.

Hi Malc
Fortunately this issue was sorted. I re-informed the team and have now received the outstanding balance
