New Postal Order

Whilst in the post office (the larger one in town where i get more sense than my local one) this morning I asked them again about the postal orders what she told me is that crossed postal orders have to be paid into a bank account and do take the same amount of time to clear as a cheque. They can bounce if the sender reports them to royal mail as being lost or stolen - however if the name is printed on them by them then they have a record of the name that was printed on it and if it has been paid into a bank account in the same name then the sender has no grounds to claim it being lost or stolen. It is also in the case of fraudulent postal orders, though she did say these are going to become a lot less common due to the fact that the new postal orders are barcoded
