Entitled.to calculation

Good morning everyone,

My partner and I are setting up home together. I suppose it's a strange question as not matter what, we hope to live together.

All I'm really asking is what is the validity of this 'entitled to' site? When I plug all the details into the HMRC site, I don't get anywhere near the amount of help. Can anyone on here give me a rough approximation of the entitlements? I work and earn £30500 pa before tax. OH is FTM to 4 children (3,5,8,13). These are our only income(s).

Currently OH is on IS and gets quite a bit each month. We're obviously frantically paying of all debts at the moment whilst we have this extra (I believe) but I'd be very interested in the total income we should have after we move in together. Are we entitled to any help? Do we pay full CT if mum isn't working?

Have a great day everyone. :j

Your partner will lose her IS. Yes I would imagine you will still pay full CT, on an income of over 30k I wouldnt doubt you will be eligable for any council tax benefit. Nor will you get help with rent if you rent.
You will still be entitled to child tax credits but I would imagine its just the basic element. And child benefit wont change
    What does entitledto say?

having a rough look through entitledto it looks like £60 per week child benefit and £95 per week child tax credits plus maintenance from the childrens father(?)
Council tax is based on the household income so there would not be a discount.
although the amounts are probably less than you have as individuals, once living together there won't be 2 lots of housing costs etc

Hi i moved in with my partner resently as well, i was on income support with twins one is disabled also, My partner earns half of what your OH does a year, My income support was stopped so all i claim now is carers allowance child tax credits (we get extra amount for my child whom is disabled) We get full help with rent and council tax.... Even if you might not be able to claim help with rent and council tax fill in a form and ask about it, as i say there is no harm in asking all they can say is 'No'

You will probably get £80 child benefit every 4 weeks for 1st child then it goes down for each on therafter (sorry unsure of amounts). Minimum CTC aswell.
No help with rent, CT or anything though.

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies.

The eldest child's father gives £20 a week child maintenance - my OH, mum, has never pushed for more.

The other three children are to a man on disability so he doesn't pay a penny. In fact, when he has them he asks OH for money to look after them because "she gets the benefits" - it's a joke (classic bad back when his eldest - other marriage - became 16 i.e his benefits stopped, he's not worked but built a double garage and a kitchen, oh and repairs cars for cash). The usual - God I hate spongers.

I think entitled.to came out with about £150 a week plus the £20 a week maintenance. I didn't expect any help with the mortgage or the CT was just wondering about the 75% single occupancy thing (as mum isn't working).

All I'm worried about is the dreaded "overpayment". A friend at work owes nearly 5k due to overpayments.

As for the costs cutting in half, I've been reading though the Old style board all day and I can't wait to implement some of the savings. It's clear we have a lot to save. :A

25% single occupancy means just that- for someone living on their own. As you are not this wont apply to you
