Is a bank statement always suitable as proof of purchase

Hi all,
I bought a hifi for my mum from Clearance Bargains on my credit card on 14th March. It was working fine but now it's stopped working properly and I can't find the receipt.
On the back of another receipt from there it says "Please retain this receipt as proof of purchse and your guarantee......... In the unlikely event that an item is faulty please return the item with proof of purchase to the Clearance Bargains store....... Your statutory rights remain unaffected"
Will my credit card statement be good enough? There's nothing on it to say what the item was, just that it was bought from this store.
I'd be happy with an exchange as she likes the hifi.
Could anyone point me in the direction of finding out what the rules are?
Thanks

In this instance a credit card statement would be proof enough.0
