Prepay Credit Card (debit) card info needed

I'm interested in what are being called prepay credit cards, even if they appear to really be prepay debit cards. But I'm looking for more information. The first place for looking for information is usually this site, but there is no article on the subject.

The best appears to be 360money and a version of their splashtastic card( £1.99 monthly fee, no ID check) but its Maestro.
Any info on any that use VISA?

  • There are no visa cards (there are some visa electron pre pay cards from the post office) as it is mainly a mastercard project.

what do people think of this

  • A prepaid card, where you deposit funds with no interest receivable and you pay a fee somewhere to use. Why not just get a Visa Electron card from The Woolwich (cardsaver account) and at least get some interest?

  • I used to work for a company that sold prepay credit cards. Horrid things I thought. Usefull perhaps for those unable to get a bank account but the ones we did were £9.95 for the card then £4.99 a month if there was an outstanding balance. As it's considered a credit card (well a mastercard anyway) there were no free cash withdrawls, no cashback, no interest paid on credit balances and it didn't do anything to boost credit ratings.
