Is my money stuck forever?

This is a bit weird, but hoping someone can advise me.
I have a very small amount of money in a Nationwide current account (think it's called a flexaccount) which I would like to withdraw and close the account.
The account is registered at my parents' address.
I also had a e-savings account associated with the current account (hope I am making sense here!). When I went into the branch to close my current account they said I have to close my e-Savings account first (this bit has no money in it). With me so far?
The problem is this account is old and the email address I used to open the e-Savings bit has been deactivated because I didn't use it for so long. I can't even remember what the email address was, so obviously I can't log on and shut down the e-Savings account. So if the Nationwide say I have to shut this e-Savings bit before I can close my flexaccount, and I can't shut it down, does this mean they can keep my money?
Well done if you read all of that! Any advice much appreciated! xx

Go to the login page, click 'Register'. Then choose the option for 'Re-registering', and state that you've forgotten all your login details.
It's not done by email address, but by your customer number, a six-digit secret passnumber, and three security questions.0 -
You should be able to take ID into the branch and close the account, Or update the account online after going through their security measures.
They do tend to make things hard, When i try and pay money into the bank they tell me i have an online account & should use the envelopes and paying in box.
I asked how can it be an online account when i opened it at this branch before they even did internet banking.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Go into the branch and explain the situation to them. with id!They should be able to verify who you are and release funds.:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

Gosh thank you for such swift replies! :T
I don't have a clue what my customer number or six-digit secret passnumber are, but I will go in again and ask to speak to someone else, or maybe make an appointment.
I haven't got any ID with my parents address on, although I do have the flexaccount statements and a current driving license (sp?) so they can see I have the right name and date of birth at least!
Fingers crossed that I get a helpful bank person (although I do know it's my own fault for leaving it so long and losing all my details
)
Thanks for your advice everyone! xx0 -
If you ring up they'll post you out a customer number and new 6 digit pin0

I would write a letter from your parents address asking them to close all accounts and to forward a cheque made payable to the name on the account and send to the address the accounts are held in, they should do this without any problems and you just then need to pick up the cheque. Has always worked for me when I have needed to close accounts0
