Jsa

Hi everyone.

Hubby got a letter from JC today.

It says

Jobseekers allowance based on National Insurance Contributions is payable up to a maximum of 182 days. Our records show that you have received your allowance.
Your Jobseekers Allowance based on National Insurance Contributions will soon run out.

The letter then goes on to tell him what to do if he disagrees with this and how to appeal.

As he has still been unable to find a job what does he do now.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

It depends on your circumstances, if you are also not working then it would be a claim for Income based JSA, if you are working then he can still sign on to get stamp paid but no payment

I got same thing this week. Its just because 6 months has run out (or is about to). Get him to ask for an income based job seekers allowance form from Job Centre. Fill that in and they will tell you what you are entitled to. You will have to supply bank statements etc and declare any income from what you receive etc. Best to fill in asap as can take a few weeks to process.

Yeah, agree. But you need to consider which would suit you best financially, only one of you can claim a means tested benefit.

Probably best to make the ESA claim the income related claim - means no signing on.

    Hi NASA,

Now I am confused do you mean we should not be getting both. My hubby claims JSA for himself and I claim ESA for myself. We get CTC for our son. Please dont tell me we have been missinformed again. I am at the moment paying back an IS overpayment because someone told me the wrong information.

    Thanks
