USB Broadband, Making Sense of Bandwidth Used (simple query)

I have USB broadband, with a limited amount of bandwith/data .... it is with three and when I click to view usage it tells me right now that for the last 7 days:
Uploaded 4GB
Downloaded 4.4GB
Total 8.5GB

All I use the internet for is surfing. I am not playing games, I am not watching youtube, I am not uploading files, I am not downloading any special or unusual files ... just surfing - and posting random stuff here (like you do).

So, how come my upload seems to be so close to my downloaded data usage? It just doesn't seem right to me.... any clues?

Where do you get your figures from? Is it from your ISP , which ISP is it and also if your broadband is like mine it takes ages to upload 4+GB and I haven't the time to do that ;) What speed are you getting ?. Are you using a wireless router, and is anyone in your location (home) using the same connection.

More questions than answers but that is the way of asking a question with little or no background info :)

By 'USB' broadband do you mean mobile broadband (using a USB dongle)? If so, I find you figures hard to believe, especially 4GB upload.
What is your monthly allowance, because you must be way over it at 34GB a month!
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
