new car , paint sealant rip off

not really sure if this is the right section to post in...please move if need be

i thought id share my 16 years motor trade experiance with you, most car dealers will try to sell a paint protection/sealant package on new and used cars, often costing £200-300 or more

most of your £££ goes into the salemans pocket, and the paint protection warrenty is worded in a way that you will never make a claim from them...yes its a rip off!!

so....dont buy the sealant package, use a good quality car shampoo often and wax your car 4 times a year (more if you can), that will protect it just as well for £25 a year in products

So this paint protection package is it just a warrenty onm your apintwork or is it a product you place on the car itself???

its a product that the dealer applies to your paint, they claim you wont need to wax your car and it will prevent damage from acid rain blah blah

save your £300 and give the boyscouts £5 to wash it

These products dealerships try to sell you on new/used cars for £300 etc are widely available on ebay - do a search for diamondbrite or autoglym lifeshine , these are the main 2 pushed by dealers ;)

Or you could just say "Why would I need it? - do you put cheap crappy paint on your cars?"
If the paintwork starts to fade or deteriorate I'm afraid it's a trip back to the dealer's bodyshop and "warranty claim time". If you're sold a car in this country then it should be able to cope with British weather.
