Locksmith Recommendation - Elland/Halifax Area?

Hi Everyone

Just our luck, the lock on our front PVC door has gone faulty tonight and we've had a quote for a replacement part of £189 plus £89 per hour labour charge.

Could anyone recommend anyone who might be a bit cheaper at all please?

Thanks,

Sal

  • That seems very expensive! When we were broken into (when we lived in Elland) we got 2 snap free barrels and 2 sets of handles for £227 which was still abit too dear. I would advise on paying that bit extra though for the snap free locks, after seeing how easy it is to get into a door with euro profile barrels!

He does not fit them himself but supplies all upvc parts to the trade as well as to the retail so worst case is you can get a price for the part you need. However i am sure he will be able to supply a good trademans telephone number for you.

If it's just the lock that broken all you need to do is buy a replacement barrell - takes 10 seconds to fit.

I just bought some from here: http://toughlocks.co.uk/

They're videos on there showing you how to replace the actually lock (not the handle).

If you have a standard uPVC door it is very simple to replace - the locks are about £30 each.

The item being changed by this company is the cylinder not the lock, a new lock strip would be more in the region of £160 supplied and fitted by a reputable company.
