WTC stoped due to increase in earnings

No kids so only WTC involved here. Last year my earnings were £9000. This year my earnings will be around £26000. I''ve just called the tax credit people to give them the figures for last year and they have stoped my WTC. I've read the sticky about the £25000 disregard but don't understand it. I thought my WTC for this year was based on last years earnings and you had a £25000 disregard for increases. Should my WTC have stoped?

This is Benefits and Tax credits forum. I want advice to see if the tax credit should have been stoped. You have 3244 posts on this forum and you have nothing helpful to add but still feel the need to make sarky comments. Please stop wasting your time on this post and find a post where you can offer some help or advice. If anyone else has something constructive to add please do.0

Hi Kaptron,
when did you phone tax credits?
Did you give them an estimated figure for 10-11 tax year?0 -

You are talking about financial years yes?
Why would they stop them with figures of £9k? Your future earnings April 2010-April 2011 are irrelevant just now.0 -
Hi, I called them today, I told them I thought my earnings will be around £26000 this year but am not certain as it involves overtime weekend work etc.
Yes tax years. They just said your earnings will be to high to qualify for WTC. I just started getting the higher pay and wont have it in my bank account until the end of the month so was a bit shocked they stopped the WTC. I read up on it an found something about the £25000 disregard but it doesn't make sense to me.0 -
If you call them today then they have taken your estimated income for 10-11 and therefore you will not qualify for WTC as it is too high. They can not update your income for 09-10 tax year until you have recieved your annual declaration.0

As it is for April until April, you will have had an overpayment for next year.0
