Suddenly unable to access certain sites

I am having problems accessing the https://www.argos.co.uk site and various others such as John Lewis. (the problem just started about 5pm today)
Each time I try and access certain sites I get the MSN search site coming up
http://sea.search.msn.co.uk/dnserro...www.argos.co.uk
Is anybody else experiencing similar problems or have I picked up some virus?
Or could the proble be with my cable provider (wightcablenorth)
Any help would be appreciated

Argos at 23.38 is ok on my computer, it would not hurt to do a complete scan. Also suggest you look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=23748Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0

I'd restart in safe mode (press F8 a lot when booting up) delete all history, cookies & temp files, then run the current version of adaware & spybot as well as your antivirus before restarting as normal.
As it's not happening on all sites, it suggests that some corruption is occurring on stuff that's already on your computer0 -
Could well be the ISP (routing problems)Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Agree. Sounds as if it is most likely caused by a fault at the ISP end of things, probably a failure of their DNS lookups (it's a server that translates (e.g.) https://www.moneysavingexpert.com to 69.10.152.156 - which the Internet understands!).
Sometimes (or more often, depending on your ISP) part or all of that service falls over, meaning that you can not access some or all websites.
Chances are that it has been fixed by now - is that the case?0
