What does backdated mean is this a bad thing?

so i rang up the information number today and was just making sure that my money will be in by thursday they said something about i might be due more then the 100 because its been 3 weeks today since i started the claim on the phone and that it could be backdated :(

what does this mean when its backdated and they could not say how much it would be they was not sure on a figure but i am guessing its 150 seeing as its 3 weeks and its 50 a week? i am a tad confused

Backdated means that your claim can be made from an earlier date.

It's a good thing and means you should get more money.

Usually backdated to the date on your application.
Is it for benefits? Certain benefits can be backdated for longer if you can show good reason for now applying soon..
Not always the case, but might be worth enquiring with them if you happen to be on the phone to them anyway.

You will get the ~£150 for the 3 weeks. Well you should anyway! The benefit delivery centre should be able to tell you with 100% certainty how much you'll get or ask in your local Jobcentre office if they're bothered to help you.
  • if you read my posts a few up i said i did ring them and they could not give me a figure just that i will be paid on Thursday but not sure how much if its 100 great if its more ill be well happy :)
