Another DFS nightmare.

Quick question.

I had a Sofa bed delivered from DFS Belfast last week. In the delivery process they two lads dug a hole in my floor which I spotted and made them note and call in to the main office. Then after they left I decided to open out the sofa bad only to discover that the fabric flap under the cushions was torn badly.

I emailed both the head office UK and Belfast office with pictures of both the floor and the sofa. Head office replied by phone the next day to say that the Belfast office would send out an assessor.......in a week!

The assessor has just left telling me that he will offer to repair the sofa as it is their legal right to do so. I however wish to reject the sofa and stop any payments. I would also like my floor returned to normal.

Am I within my rights to ask for a refund and cancel this order or do I have to allow them to repair a sofa that is badly made?

Cheers in advance.

    For your floor...

Look at the terms for the delivery as I know with couriers, more often than not the items are only insured to the door, and if the courier helped you inside, he is doing it as a favour etc and not part of the delivery - thus it's not covered and any incident is your "fault". I'm not sure how this applies to DFS since I assume they use their own "lads".

This might be a case with the sofa... so it's worth checking the T&Cs regarding that.

What did the assessor have to say about the floor at the time?

Assessor said someone would look at the floor.....thats what I thought he was there for lol.

Also said in Jolly voice....'It's only a small tear in the fabric of the sofa so we'll stitch that up no problem and staple the bits that need staples'

Didn't seem at all worried that they'd delivered something way below par!
