fitting plasterboard on ceilings

following a water leak I need to replace my ceiling using new PB. I have purchased taper edge PB and my queries are:
1. where the PB butts against the wall, are you supposed to use joint tape, if so do you attach the tape to both the wall and the PB, in which case there will be a lip created on the wall surely? If you do not use joint tape, and just apply filler direct to the PB to fill in the tapered edge section, then I assume that as soon as things dry there will be a crack line between wall and PB , is there anyway to avoid this?
2. how should i set out the PB? I have 2.4 x 1.2 sheets and will either have one long joint the whole length of the ceiling where 2 sheets are placed end on or are you supposed to stagger the joints like you would with brickwork (eg the same as a brickwork stretcher bond)?

ive never used tape around the edges.
most modern fillers are flexible. so any cracking is minimised.
yes you should stagger them if poss.Get some gorm.0 -
Yes stagger like this, as your using taperered edge boards I assume your tape and jointing like the picture and not skimming the ceiling? If you are skimming the ceiling then no need for tapered edge boards. Don't tape against the wall unless your doing the walls also.

thanks folks
I am not going to skim coat. I'm using the white PB side that is supposedly ready to decorate so will just paint over once the joints are dry and sanded down0
