Bought a car from the Car Shop - Big Problem now!!

Ok so I spent £10k on a car from the Car Shop in Northampton 1 week ago.. upon collecting the car I noticed a strange rattle / blowing noise when I accelerated. So I rang the Car Shop the next day and was told that their warranties was dealt with by Nationwide Autocentre and that I would need to contact them. So I contact the garage and arrange to take my car in this morning.. the garage tell me that the Catalytic Converter has all broken up and is rattling about in my exhaust!!!!

So I say.. ok, when can you fix it? ..and they say, "We'll have to check with the Car Shop to see if that's covered under their warranty!" ...I'm sorry but didn't I just buy the car less than 7 days ago and didn't they already tell me they've done a FULL service and 70 million point PDI inspection on the vehicle?!!!!! ....where do I stand?? ..anyone know my rights?? Please!

Parts that are subject to wear and tear eg. tyres, brakes, exhausts etc arnt covered by warrantys, but as you have just bought the car and reported it on the second day i would have thought you are in a strong position as as you said it should have been checked.

If you had found the fault a week or so afterwards i would think you would have no case for the reason i mentioned above.

The fault was there when you bought the car so its up to them to fix it (should have really taken it back as soon as you have heard the problem). I know parts like that are wear and tear which arent covered by warranties, but not even lasting a whole day is rediculous.
Definately get them to cover the costs and dont take no for an answer

..I would have taken it back the same day but they couldn't see me till today!! The garage quoted £900 to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..finally got them to agree to fix it.. it was either that or take the car back for a refund! ;)
