Hi, I am considering booking Viva Menorca for an all inclusive holiday for myself, OH and 2 children. Having never done all inclusive before, we usually do half board I would like to ask for any opinions or anything I should take into consideration before I actualy book. I am worried about having to queue for drinks etc or the food not being up to scratch.
Any advice would be great, Thanks

Never done Ai in Menorca

Like you I had a lots of doubts about Ai. Been to the hotels that , some guests are Ai and some are not. Those ( like me ) got the good stuff, while others were 'herded'
to the end of the bar and treated like 2nd class citizens. Vowed I would never go down that route.
But a few years ago , wanted to visit Turkey , and nearly ALL the good hotels are
Ai , So we went. I even asked at the reception , wether to tip the wine waiters
Ai works well in Turkey , no infrastructure outside of the hotels , but you will find the bars / shops etc on the island.
My conclusion on Ai holidays , only go to Hotels , which are all inclusive.
Don't try and do it on the cheap .
Ps back to Turkey this year , Ultra Ai0 -
Can't comment on all inclusive...it's never appealed to me as I like to go out different places and would rarely be in the same place for enough evening meals to make it worthwhile. But just wondered if you'd been to Menorca before as I went twice and both times found it really reasonable for eating out, and easy to get snacks/drinks etc without breaking the bank - it had to be that way as I was a newly single mum with 2 young kids who always want to be eating lol. Just saying this as if you weren't sure about going AI then you should at least be able to go out without forking out a fortune0

We (me, OH and 2 kids) are going to Viva Menorca in June this year, its our 1st trip Ai so I cant really comment as to wether its any good, but I did do some googleing and found good reports in relation to food and drink, so maybe worth having a read of some of the reviews.:)0

Went to S'Algar (Las Palmeiras) in Menorca and stayed AI in September 09. Never done AI before that, found it excellent value for money, food was great and great choice on the menu.
Wife and I don't drink massively but we like a couple when on holiday without getting hammered and having had food and a couple of beers in Mahon one night, worked out that we'd have probably paid more if we hadn't done AI given the prices we paid in Mahon.
Will be going back to Menorca again this September as we loved the laid back feel of the place, but hopefully we'll be staying in the North of the island this time. Again AI.
So if any of you can recommend one of the resorts at that end feel free!!0 -

Hi, We have booked Viva Menorca which seems to get good reviews. It is exclusive to First Choice in the UK and we found that if we booked just the hotel with First Choice and the flight seperately (with Monarch) we saved about £1,000 !!. The flights are at a lot better times than the first choice ones the only thing is that the hotel is quite a way from the airport and we have no transfers but we do have £1,000+ spare to spend on taxis!
The other option we looked at was booking direct with Viva hotels, they were doing a 20% reduction on web bookings, but this may have ended. Their website is:
http://www.hotelsviva.com/en/index.html
We looked at booking with Viva because then you can take the AI option on a daily basis so if you want to go out for a couple of days you do not have to pay the AI, just use and pay for it the days you are there.
Anyway we will be there at the end of July and I do hope it is as good as the reviews suggest.
Good luck0
