My neighbour is divorced, but regularly has his teenage boy over to stay. This lad already has an xbox360 at his mum's with an xbox live account.
My neighbour wants to know - if he bought an xbox 360 and network adaptor, would his son be able to use his existing xbox live subscription, or would he need another one?

He would have to bring his hard drive from the xbox at his mums. The xbox live profiles are stored on the hard drive0

no he wouldn't, he has two much easier options
1) buy a cheap memory card and move his profile onto it, then onto his dads console, then vice versa when going home
2) just recover it via Xbox live - he just needs the Gamertag, original email and password used to set it up to do this.0
