Hi hayley748 and thank you for your message

We don’t have the facility to be able to simply transfer your Debt Management Plan from your existing provider as you would need to have an appointment with one of our debt counsellors first. If the counsellor is happy to offer a DMP as a result of your appointment, we would then discuss with you how to end the current arrangement you have and setting it up with ourselves. You would be able to include all your debts, including the payday loans.

CCCS does not charge for setting up or administering a Debt Management Plan.

If you would like us to take a look at your situation to see what options you have, you would need to book a telephone based appointment with one of our trained debt counsellors by calling our helpline on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00.

Alternatively, you can use our online electronic facility called Debt Remedy. Debt Remedy will assist you in completing a financial statement which includes information on your household, employment, income, expenditure and debts. All this information is used as a basis to determine the options available to you to deal with your situation.

Once you’ve followed the process through and completed all the required information you will immediately be presented with an advice booklet, which will provide tailored advice for you based on your current circumstances. It will also provide advice on ways you may be able to improve your situation. If you would like to get immediate advice on your situation this link will take you directly to Debt Remedy http://www.cccs.co.uk/ref/drcu

    Hope this helps,

    Regards
    Sue

  • Thanks CCCS_Sue for your reply.

We're busy getting all our financial info together. The good thing is that my partner and I are properly talking about the situation and I feel less scared by it all.

We are going to go down the debt counselling route. We are considering a DMP as a wise route forward. This debt is going to be with us for an awful long time and we need to continue addressing it responsibly when I do eventually find work. Otherwise we could end up back here again, which would be just awful.
  • thankyou i will work out all my income and expenditure and arrange an appointment, i don't have all letters from creditors as the dmp im on deal with them but i do know most account numbers etc. Thanks for your help xx

    Hi Bumear

    Thank you for your message

We really need an up to date statement from each creditor showing account numbers, addresses of creditors and current balances.
If the 'print offs' from the internet have all this information, then that should be ok.
If not, then I would recommend that you contact our client support team for further help.
Good luck with your DMP :)

    Regards
    Sue

    Hi sickasachip

It's really good that you and your partner are sitting down together to discuss this. It is always better when you are both working towards the same goals.

    Hope it all goes well!

These can be difficult. Could you contact them to find out their address and also what your client account number is?

  • Hi I'm in debt and probably heading for a debt management plan via cccs but before I kick that off I want to examine all my options. Well I have a credit card offer arrived from Santander and it's 0% on balance transfers for 16months and no fee to transfer so it seems like a really good deal and I could transfer a whole load of debt that way (not sure how much credit limit they will give me though). The thing is, they also provide my mortagage and so because of that does that mean that I will have effectively taken on a secured loan and so risk loosing my house?

Second, I have £12k on a fixed loan at 17%apr and £7k on a credit card at 0.4% pcm for the next five months-both with lloyds. Is it worth messing about and trying to do balance transfers etc or is it best to just do the debt management plan. I'm worried because if Lloyds just refuse to co-operate or freeze my charges/interest then I'm left even worse off as my credit rating will be ruined even more by trying to do a debt management plan.

    Help!! - Rich

Hi Rich and thank you for your message,

It’s difficult to know what your best option is without knowing the details of your situation.

You need to consider whether you will be accepted for the card, how much they will allow you to transfer and whether or not you will be able to repay the debt within the interest free period. Otherwise, the interest is likely to rocket and could leave you in a worse situation. The debt would not be a secured loan as a credit card is an unsecured debt even if it is with the same provider.

If, further down the line you are unable to maintain the payments on the new card, they may be less likely to accept reduced payments on a DMP as you already knew you were in financial difficulties when you applied for it.

I would recommend that you contact us for detailed advice before you make a decision. There may even be other debt solutions that you could consider. You can either use our online advice facility Debt Remedy or call 0800 138 1111 for an appointment with a counsellor. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Pavan
