Hello.
I am on a Debt Management Plan with CCCS, and was recently told I am being made redundant at the end of November.
Does anyone know what happens when you are on a DMP please?
I have told CCCS and they just said let us know nearer the time which I wasn't really pleased with.
I am due to get 10 weeks pay in my lump sum, so what happens when I get this amount paid to me?
Can CCCS insist I up my payments, or can a creditor insist I use this money to substantially increase my monthly payment to them via CCCS?
Please advise ASAP.
Thank you.0 -
Hi,
I hope you will be able to help, as my username suggests I have been a fool with money in the past. I am trying and have been on a debt management plan and have been for almost two years now. I do not feel that I am making progress with my plan and am worried that if I do not increase the payments at the next renewal the interest will all begin to increase my total debt. The reason I went with a DMP (with Payplan) rathere than an IVA was because I entered into a loan with my mum as a joint loan. Although this was in joint names the loan in essence was for me and I have been making the payments towards the loan. My question is can I/we (my wife and me) enter into an IVA even though my mum is on the loan? I do not want to force my mum to either also go into an IVA or worse have to pay the loan off. The bank have not chased my mum any difference in the reduced payments since I started the DMP. Please can you help? I did ask Payplan but they said they do not know what would happen.0 -

I'm really sorry about your redundancy, i can see where your coming from as your trying to plan your money, I would hesistate a guess as to why CCCS said wait to the time, if your money was readjusted now you'd be working on 50% guesswork, - so when you get the money then your be in a better position to be able to act on the advice.
I don't know if you have another ob lined up, but don't forget you shoud apply for job seekers allowance at contribution rate, (think you would get that for 6 months), - think you would need to do this the day after you finish work to get it through the system.
CCCS will look at all the options at the tine when you know where you are, as for a creditor, I just think you can't get blood out of a stone.
Have you looked at direct gov websites re JSA - maybe worth doing some homework now so your prepared, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi, I have been rather stupid in the past with my finances but since 2010 I promised myself I would stop & get myself sorted.
I am happy to say that I kept to this, however, I have come accross a hurdle which I didnt forsee & desperately need some advice.
In Aug 2009 I opened a DMP with Payplan, but I never paid into this. Then is Oct 2009 I took out a Payday loan. I have now begun making regular monthly payments to Payplan, however because this Payday loan was takin out after I signed the DMP agreement they are refusing to deal with them.
I have been warned by this company that they could take me to court, they have said they have registered a CCJ with Northampton County Court however I have never received paperwork to back this up, which I have advised on numerous occasions. The ammount I owe is £325 which doesnt seem alot but I simply do not have funds to clear it. I have been discussing this directly with them myself, they have offered numerous payment plans but all unaffordable for me. Where do I go from here? I do not want to be taken to court over this but it seems I cant agree with them an affordable monthly payment.
Any help would be much apreciated.
PS Payplans advice was just to deal with them direct as they cant. (Helpful)0 -

I got a credit card in 2007, but ended up in trouble as I was careless and didn't repay monthly. After having a credit agency after me for some time ( I told them I couldn't afford repaying as much as they wanted me to and they refused to accept the amount I offered to pay), I was told the credit card had been revoked. I would like to know what this means and how it affects my credit rating. I am now in a more secure position with a full time job and would like to rebuild my credit score but am not sure how to solve this problem. I have applied for a couple of credit cards (last one was a couple of years ago), but have been refused. Is this revoked credit card going to follow me forever?
Many thanks and best regards,
Victoria
Hi Victoria and thanks for your question.
When the card was revoked they will have closed the account so you could no longer spend on the card. Any amount outstanding will still be remaining though so it’s best to contact them and make and arrangement to pay whatever you can afford.
It won’t affect your credit rating forever as everything drops off after 6 years although if there is an outstanding amount this will stay on there until it is cleared.
If you’d like some more detailed advice about working out how much you can afford you can get in touch with us.
I hope this helps.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
We won’t insist that you up your payments as it’s likely that you’ll need the redundancy pay to tide you over until you find a new job.
If you’d like to discuss things in a bit more detail you can send me your reference number in a private message and someone will contact you to go through your options with you.
I hope this helps.

Hi there and thanks for your question.
If you were to enter into an IVA your creditor would have the option to chase your mum for the outstanding amount – although they have this option now too so there’s no guarantee whether they will or won’t. There’s nothing to say that your creditors will definitely start charging interest as long as they can see that you’re making best efforts to pay what you can afford.
As you’re already with Payplan I’d recommend that you ask them to review your budget and your situation to see what options are available to you. However it’s likely that your joint loan will still affect your options.
I hope this helps.

Hi mustking and welcome to the forum.
It’s not possible for you to deal with the payday loan direct as all your money will be accounted for in your budget. If Payplan can’t include it on the plan you could arrange to pay all of your creditors direct yourself and re proportion the money you have available.

If it was received today your DMP should be up and running for the 1st of October although this could take longer if there is information missing. To be sure you could call or email our support team with your client reference number to check on the progress and make sure we’ve received everything.
I hope this helps.

I know your trying to sort things out but please don't take a consolidation loan, from experience, I thought it would be the answer to all my problems, and it has just been a millstone, made my financial state 100 times worse, hopefully you have contacted cccs, they have been brilliant to me, and I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel x
Yep, I second that, have done that a couple of times actually and you can see the mess I'm still in today!
Still, onwards and upwards! :T0
