I have a credit card with £800 of debt on it. I never use the card. I have only been able to make the minimum payments on it for a couple of years so each month I am just paying the interest and the debt never goes down. My financial situation is not likely to change. In the past I had two other credit cards, I went to the citizens advice and with their help had repayment plans set up so now I make a monthly payment to each (well the collections agency) and there is no longer any interest. The company who this card is from refused to set up a similar plan. Now I am left with a card that I cannot see any way of paying off. Do you have any advice please? I need to start paying it off to clear it.
Many thanks.
Hi purplegirluk1 and thanks for your question.
We’d need to look at your situation in a bit more detail to see what options are available to you. If you’re still making reduced payments on the other cards, I’d recommend that you treat all of your creditors the same and only offer what you can afford to pay. You can put together a budget to help you work out what you can pay.
If you’d like some free and impartial advice you can use our online debt advice service Debt Remedy (http://www.cccs.co.uk/ref/drcu) or call our helpline on 0800 138 1111 (free including from mobiles and we’re open Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm and Saturdays 9am – 3pm).
I hope this helps.

Hi Pavan,
Just wondering how long CCCS take to get in touch, the application was posted on Saturday, along with letter to my creditors saying I am asking CCCS to set up a DMP. Hopefully it was received today so I was wondering when I could expect something off you guys?
I appreciate it takes time to get this in motion but anything to put my mind at ease would be appreciated
Thanks0 -
I have been pretty irresaponsible over the years and have run up debt through credit cards and also a bank loan. This totals around 10,000. I am now spending some time overseas and so want to try and consolidate my debt and pay it off in the cheapest way possible.
I was looking at getting 0% interest credit cards and transferring the amounts and paying it off that way, but it's difficult when I have to show employement in the UK and also have to sign documents. Would you be able to please advise me on any was that I can try and get this debt cleared.
Thank you.
Hi hspanner and welcome to the forum.
We don’t usually recommend debt consolidation as a solution as it can often make the situation worse in the long term. You can read more about the pros and cons here: http://moneyaware.co.uk/2011/04/to-debt-consolidate-or-not-to-debt-consolidate/. You will find it difficult to get access to credit here if you’re not living or working in the UK.
If you’d like us to look at your situation in a bit more detail to see what options are available to you, I’d recommend that you contact us. Our contact number from overseas is +44 113 297 0126.
I hope this helps.

Hi again,
If it was received today your DMP should be up and running for the 1st of October although this could take longer if there is information missing. To be sure you could call or email our support team with your client reference number to check on the progress and make sure we’ve received everything.
I hope this helps.

Hi
I hope one of you can advise me.
My son is due to start university away from home so as we are not eligable for bursaries only a Student Loan we have to contribute towards hall costs.
We have been on a DMP for 5 years and are doing very very well. We have 2 younger sons still in school and a daughter at a local University and living at home.
My annual review is now due and I wanted to know if we can make an allowance towards my son's hall costs at Uni.
Thank You

another one bites the dust...
sorry couldn't resist a letter off another creditor they are accepting the payment offer, thank you.
have also rang bank re old bank charges, sent the letter and format from the site and they completly disregarded what i wrote and when they checked their records 1 piece of paper scanned, (letter) page 2 scanned blank (which was list of charges) why didn't the bank ring! oh that would mean some work, but I told that i have already given them more time, and once I mentioed financial obsbumen or even court, suddenly they would look at the complaint again, and do a manual check for the charges and come back to me within 14 days...
so if there if anyone in the same situ - please don't give up - I'm claiming back bank charges as unfair as I was on benefits at the time and when they were takeing between £100 and £400 a month out I was living below the legal limit set by the goverment! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I know your trying to sort things out but please don't take a consolidation loan, from experience, I thought it would be the answer to all my problems, and it has just been a millstone, made my financial state 100 times worse, hopefully you have contacted cccs, they have been brilliant to me, and I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Hi there and thanks for your question.
If you’re paying towards the costs it’s important to budget for them. We would need to look at your budget as a whole to make sure it’s affordable and you can still afford to pay towards a DMP – if that’s still the best option for you. If the costs change your budget drastically we will talk through the options that are available to you.
It’s best that you contact our client support team and they will be able to go through your budget and make any changes as required.
I hope this helps.

Hello,
I got a credit card in 2007, but ended up in trouble as I was careless and didn't repay monthly. After having a credit agency after me for some time ( I told them I couldn't afford repaying as much as they wanted me to and they refused to accept the amount I offered to pay), I was told the credit card had been revoked. I would like to know what this means and how it affects my credit rating. I am now in a more secure position with a full time job and would like to rebuild my credit score but am not sure how to solve this problem. I have applied for a couple of credit cards (last one was a couple of years ago), but have been refused. Is this revoked credit card going to follow me forever?
Many thanks and best regards,

the money will still be showing as outstanding, when they revoked the card, my understanding is that it was blocked for you to spend on but the account would still accpet payments - if it went to an to an agency they would be collecting the payments.
Is it over 6 years since they contacted you, to be honest until this is sorted you will get turned down for credit cards.
