Hi, just registered to ask a Q to the CCCS guys.

I've spiralled into a mess the last 6 months with payday loans, and now am in a position where on Payday all my wages are going to pay these back and I'm having to get more just to live on. Got to the point where I really don't know where to turn next.

I've been reading up on several DMP from companies and spoke to someone from one last week who sent me a pack with T&C's etc. After doing some more research, they seemed like a poor company who are there just to get be further into dect.
I eventually stumbled across CCCS site, and finally I think i have found an answer to make my life so much better.

I have filled out the Debt Remedy form, with my 11 creditors totalling around 4.5k, what is the next step from here? The advice was to go through with a DMP, which i'm happy to do but just wondering if i need to ring to get it started and what kind of help I can expect i.e will I be able to pay a fixed sum each month of around £200?

    Many thanks in advance.
    JT
Hi JT and thank you for your message

If you wish to do the DMP, just fill in your personal details as instructed. Your consent will be required before you proceed.
The amount you will be paying to your DMP is the amount you have surplus after paying all your priority bills and everyday living costs.
If you require any further help with this, then you can contact our debt remedy team on the telephone number provided in your booklet.

    Kind Regards
    Sue

    Hi Sue / Pavan,

I phoned MBNA up last night and to cut a long story short, they said they can only help people who cannot afford the minimum monthly repayment, they didn't care I was paying it by D/D and the interest was £5 more a month (and rising). He said it's unlikely they would freeze the interest or cut the APR as that is what my original credit agreement was.... I originally rang the number for "difficulties paying" and after 10 minutes of automated nonsense, got through to a normal customer service advisor who said the dept. I wanted is open 9am to 5pm only, which is no good to me as I am work in thsoe hours and there is no privacy here, not that I want anyone at work knowing my difficulties :(

I was that annoyed with them I feel like transferring £2,000 off the MBNA onto my EGG card, just so the greedy MBNA ******* won't take as much interest off me (leaving £2,229 outstanding on the MBNA). But that would then leave me with £2,000 on my EGG card at 26.9%, I can't even fathom what minimum monthly repayments would be on that, and that rates as extortionate as MBNA :(

    Getting nowhere, it's scary....

    Hi,

I have a house worth about £132,500 ..... was put on market for £147,500 8 months ago - no response, reduced to £142,500, 1 visit - not interested, just reduced to £136,000 wait and see

However - we have a mortgage of £118,000 with 5% indemnity if we sell (£123900 approx owed), which is fine, but we also have a £20,000 loan with Welcome Finance.....

Can we sell the house and not settle the Welcome Finance loan - ask them to detach from the house & treat as personal debt & add to our other personal debt of £37k which we have a DMP through CCCS since Sept 2008.

We want to get out of this house as it is falling into disrepair badly. We are hoping to sell then rent - but worried will not be able to rent. Another issue to deal with when & if we sell the house.

OR would we not be able to sell the house as the Mortgage & 2nd mortgage must both be cleared when sold.

    Thanks

  • I have been on a DMP with CCCS which I have been managing (just) since April 2010. Anyway, my boiler broke in December and we had no water or heating for over a week, I had to have the whole thing replaced or have no water or heating at all for my famikly which in the middle of the snow and freezing temperatures we had was unbearable, especially for my children. I had nobody to borrow money from and no emergency fund whatsoever, so ( *gets ready for criticism here* ) I borrowed from Wonga. I borrowed £500 to get the boiler fixed and thought I would be okay next month but I wasnt, I had to roll it over again in January and I am supposed to be paying it back on the 13th february but I will not have enough money to do this or I wont be able to pay the mortgatge (I am already 2 months in arrears with the mortgage) :_(

I dont know what to do, can I roll it over a third time? ( I know this wil incur more interest but I am desparate) or can I add it to my DMP? I know this is against the rules of a DMP (ie taking on more credit) but this was a desparate situation and I had no other option, will CCCS stop the DMP if I tell them I got a payday loan? IM not here to be judged, I know i was stupid but I didnt know what else to do. I am scared to ring CCCS in case they cancel my DMP but |I am also not prepared to pay WOnga instead of the mortgage as I could potentially lose my home here. I have cancelled the debit card (told the bank I lost it) and I have a new debit card as I understand this is how WOnga take their money, with the card and not the account details (?).

Will Wonga agree to a payment plan if I contact them to explain? I simply cannot pay this at all, when I have paid the mortgage I have £68 for the whole month to live on, and thats for food, transport to school for the kids and everything. I have no friends or family at all who can help me.

SHould I contact CCCS or should I contact Wonga BEFORE the payment is due to see if they will agree to let me pay a certain amount per month to clear the debt?

:mad:I know this is foolish but ..............any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou I am so scared....

Hi you are not stupid, as I too have done this and am in exactly the same position as you are - took out £400 loan from Wonga last year and rolled over 3 /4 times then they would not roll over anymore, kept taking money from my account, even when I cancelled the card, my mortgage bounced. thankfully my mortgage lender have been brilliant and I have now managed to pay them back at £50 per month, but wonga are like bull dogs and refused to enter into an agreement with me - I now owe them over £1200, and they are still adding interest - the only way I could stop them taking money from my account was to close the account and open a new one & stop contacting them as they are very aggressive on the phone.

I am due to complete a review with CCCS and am scared they will stop the DMP - I have been e-mailing CCCS for last few days telling them about my circs, stating I cannot face a phone call. They have said I can do the review via e-mail and can add the debt to the plan.

So please contact them - dont leave it as late as me, dont risk your mortgage. They will understand and will get it sorted as long as you are honest. we all have emergencies and have to deal with them as best we can at the time thinking is sometimes not important - sorting out the issue is.

    I hope you get sorted.

    Thanks

  • Hello Sue or Pavan

I have been on the phone to CCCS this morning to update a few details regarding creditors and forgot to ask a question. Difficult to ring now as in work until late tonight.

Basically been on DMP for a few months now and things are going well. Not too much hassle and life definitely feels better - the phone certainly isn't ringing off the hook like it was before the DMP;)

My payment to CCCS normally goes out by direct debit on 10th Month but I know that next week I will struggle to have the full amount in my bank as one child has a birthday this weekend and I have just had to pay for service on gas fire - which had been smelling a bit dodgy

I can however pay the full amount on 18th of the month (or maybe a day or two before that) - would I be able to do that instead this month - or would it be too late to get payments out to creditors on 25th?

    Hop this makes sense

    THanks Ron
  • Hi I am married and have a joint mortgage however I have stupidly got myself into lots of debt. I have been on the debt remedy link and it advises to make temporary token payments as I have considerably less money coming in than I can pay out. However, this is where it gets messy. When I filled in the questionnaire I did it with my details. Is this right? My husband and I have joint accounts however the debt is in my name so could he be held liable for it? Can I just contact the creditors from me? What could happen to the house?

Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated as this is really affecting my mental health.
    Many thanks

    Hi bit of background
Cap 1 have refused my DMP for a year I paid them up until I complained to FOS in September 2010
FOS advised the account to be put on hold until it was investigated
This expired at the end of December 2010 FOS agreed with CAP 1 that I should have sent Pay slips and Bank Statements but I had repeatedly sent SOA I dont work the debt is in my name my Partner is helping me pay pro rata.
I tried to pay CAP 1 direct in January 2011 but they returned my payment
I dont know who to pay
There are 2 DCA chasing the debt and I am worried about not paying
None of the DCA have bought the debt from CAP 1
My DMP is self managed all my other creditors have accepted

Hi symesd and thank you for your message

It may be advisable to wait and see what the house eventually sells for. If there was a shortfall after the sale to pay off the loan then you could contact us for further advice regarding what the best option would be at that time.
By adding the shortfall to the debts you already have outstanding, a DMP may no longer be your best solution.
In the meantime, if you require further advice, you can contact our client support team who will be happy to discuss your situation in more detail.

    Kind Regards
    Sue

Hi losingbigtime and thank you for your message

    Please don’t feel scared

We are certainly not here to judge or criticise you, and when an emergency arises such as this, you sometimes do have to look for a quick solution to sort out the crisis. Your main concern was obviously to make sure your children were ok.
The best thing to do is to contact our client support team as soon as possible and explain your situation. If you don’t take control and seek help to sort it out, it will only get worse!
Looks like you have had some really helpful advice from other posters and I would agree with them that you need to do a full review of your situation.

    Kind Regards
    Sue
