    Hi
I am thinking of doing the DMP myself, would I be able to get the creditor info from CCCS i.e their details to do a S.O for the payments as i am having difficulty getting contact details fo CL Finance
    Thanks

Hi there and thank you for your post.

Unfortunately we can’t give out payment information. You need to ensure that you’re sending money to the right place to ensure that it’s credited to your account, and the details you need might be different to the ones we use.

I’d recommend that you persist in asking CL Finance for their details or alternatively you could send them cheques or postal orders by recorded delivery.

    Kind regards,
    Pavan

  • I would recommend that you follow the advice already given by our client support team at CCCS, especially as we have already sent the required documentation to them. If the creditors contact you, explain that CCCS are now dealing with the payments.
  • Once a Charge for Payment for Money is issued and it has expired (after 14 days) without being paid in full, the creditor may apply to the Sheriff Court for either an Earnings Arrestment, (how much would be taken through this depends on how much you earn), an Attachment of goods (removal of property from outside the home) or an Exceptional Attachment (removal of property from within the home). Which option they decide to proceed with is entirely up to the Solicitor/creditor

  • Hi,

I owe a total of £68000 to several credit cards and a bank loan and have reached the point that I can no longer meet the minimum payments on these debts.

I have been for the past 25 years and still am a full time carer for a disabled person which has limited my ability to earn a living.

I have a flat with some equity on it.

My question is should I try to re mortgage to pay all these debts off and if I am unable to do so can the creditors take charge of the property.

I am able to meet my mortgage payments of £240pm.

    What would you suggest?

    Thanks.

Hi open, and thank you for your post.

If you are unable to meet your regular mortgage payments, I wouldn’t recommend that you apply for a remortgage as you may not be able to afford the repayments.

You need to prioritise your mortgage over your creditors to avoid losing your property. If you can’t afford your minimum payments on your debts, they could apply for a charging order on your property. This wouldn’t mean that they would take charge of it, but they would secure the debt against your flat so that they are guaranteed to receive their money from any equity if you decide to sell.

I’d really recommend that you contact us so that we can help you to work out a realistic budget and explore all of the solutions that might be available to you.

To do this you can either use our online advice facility Debt Remedy, or ring our free Helpline to book a telephone appointment with a counsellor.

Debt Remedy will assist you in completing a financial statement which includes information on your household, employment, income, expenditure and debts. All this information is used as a basis to determine the options available to you to deal with your situation.

Once you’ve followed the process through and completed all the required information you will immediately be presented with an advice booklet, which will provide tailored advice for you based on your current circumstances. It will also provide advice on ways you may be able to improve your situation.

Alternatively if you would prefer to talk to a debt counsellor about your situation, you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00.

    Kind regards,
    Pavan

I have got myself into a bit of a mess through excess spending and bad money managment. Any constructive advice would be really helpful.

    So here goes-

    Mortgage- £112,000 fixed until feb 2010 @ 6.79%= 740pcm
    Credit card- £4000
    Bank loan-£7500

Income £600pw after tax outgoings around £1800pcm to include travel to work, run a car, maintenance payments, mortgage, bills, council tax, phone etc, plus paying the loan and also min payment on cc of £100pcm

I have recently had a letter saying that i have had an old debt of £5k secured against my house (sorry its not secured but linked to the land registry or something), I also know that i have a few old debt kicking about, unpaid bank loan of £1.5k and a mobile phone bill £400. What i would like to do is somehow contact all the above and put all the debt into one. i can continue paying of the 1800pcm for mortgage etc, however not sure about how i can get all the old debt into an affordable monthly payment around £100pcm would be good.

As you can tell i am not the best with money and any advise on where to turn, i was thinking CAB?

    Many thanks
