HAvent sold in 3 years, anything new I need to know about?

I used to be a regular seller but for one reason or another haven't done for some time, but after combining the contents of two houses into one its time for a major clearout.

So for you regular sellers, can I ask is there any new scams from either ebay or its buyers that I need to be aware of or shall I just pile on in?

Just be aware that eBay's rules 'n' regulations are loaded against sellers now.
You will be judged 'in the wrong' in almost every situation.
I won't bore you with what happened to me, but it's put me right off selling; a happy buyer I shall remain.
    Good luck tho'!

The one 'they' tried on me (3 weeks on the trot) is to win the auction, then send you an ebay mail asking a random question (when the listing said BNIB, what condition is this in) - you reply (via ebay) and the buyer has your email address; you then get something that looks genuine (but revealing the email addresses show officemail) saying that paypal has your money and will release when you provide proof of postage - don't post as that's the last you'll hear

ALWAYS check the status on ebay and paypal, ignore all mails and type in the URL yourself

Interesting, I dont intend turning it into a business, just an opportunity to convert some old junk into a few quid, what doesnt sell will go on freecycle.

I'm only a little 'private' seller, like you getting rid of bits and bobs that I've collected over the years, but in eBay's eyes as a seller the onus is on you to keep the buyer happy even if they're the mad-axe-murderer-from hell. ;)

Okay, okay, slightly OTT, but until eBay introduce like-for-like protection/ rules for all users I won't be selling again.

Perhaps now the better weather is here is may be worth doing a couple of carboot sales to get rid of everything? I did two on the weekend (am still aching!!) and made £350 and still have plenty of decluttering to do!!

I have just been having a clear out too, and although have sold some things, and made a little money back on what they cost me/person who bought them for me (;)) I do fell very at the mercy of the buyers and their mood on a certain day! This said I have met some lovely buyers too, and they have reminded me that most people are decent, it is just a shame some people like to spoil things for others! Just need to find some things to buy now :).

Wouldnt mind, but my local big car boot officially opens at 7am, but in reality you have to be there at 5am to get a space
  • I think buyers expect more now.

Make sure you check for messages regularly and strategically time your auctions so you know you are able to dispatch within an acceptable time (for most buyers this is the next day or 2)
Also make sure your preferences are set up correctly to block any international bidders (if you don’t want to sent outside UK)

Other then that get information on Royal Mails postage costs and protection (prices all went up on the 6th of this month)

As normal.. good pictures, good description ect ect ect.

    Good luck J
