Introducing your own terms to contracts?

I notice on here a lot of threads where companies fail to deliver within the time frame they originally quote.

Why do folk not get something in writing and introduce their own terms eg contract will be cancelled if item not delivered by such and such a date? Of course the retailer could decline the sale but at least the buyer would know where they stood.

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this?

AFAIK they can state "Time is of the essence" for such a scenario already :)

I think it is a good idea in principle, but trying to get any larger retailer to agree to it would be near impossible. However, a smaller organisation that needs the business would probably be more willing to negotiate.
    Gone ... or have I?

If you did it, then it would become an individually negotiated contract.

This would seem to take it outside the Unfair Terms In Consumer Contracts Regulations, so it might prove a double edged sword.

I recently had the govornment trying to get my details for voting, i said there is a £100 admin charge and a further £125 charge for information, which does not include a £45 per item of personal information disclosed. i have not heard back from them yet.
    Owed out = lots.

So are you saying you would need a clause saying that normal consumer protection should not be over ridden by your new contract?

Do you mean you got one of the standard letters (that most of us get)from your council asking you to check your details are correct so that you can vote?

But you are happy to give your details to the authorities for the purpose of claiming benefits?

Exactly! The council have my details, so do libraries, benefits and many other organisations, i thought that if the govornment want some personal info they will have to do something for me instead of tell me lies and claim massive expenses, if they promised me freedom of internet and a job, i would give them my details no problems.

But aren't they already doing something for you by giving you benefits?
