Cancun Tours??

Cancun is as expensive as you let it be. If you use local buses and local boats etc you will save a fortune.
Make your way to Downtown ($0.5) then catch a bus to Chitchen Itza $14 return, entry is about $9
If you travel to Isla Majures (which is beautiful) from Cancun you will pay about $15 return, however, get the bus to Puerto Juarez which is about 15 mins north of Cancun ($0.50 on bus) and then get the boat from there $3.50 return.
Anyone who books tours with their holiday rep is just asking to get shafted, if in doubt - ask a local.
My tip - take your own snorkel stuff, you will be told certain area's are off limits and you must rent their equipment - It is rubbish, just jump in and enjoy yourself. Also, in Mexico no beach is off limits. Mexican law says that anyone can go on any beach or in any part of the water you want, so if the beach you would love to go to is part of a hotel - Walk through the lobby and go chill out. You will not and can not be stopped.
Good info that man!
I'll be there April 24th for a week.
Be my second time there. Looking forward to the short 2 1/2 hour flight to get there0 -
ahaha yea 'short'
... and the 'long' flight back eh? :P I noticed that... fly at 9am or something and get there at 2pm or something.
We go 4th May.... am totally psyched... reading all the info up and reading guides, photos etc i think we picked an excellent vacation place
... am glad we got 30kg each for luggage
... as souvenirs and cool thinhs will be coming back with us.
I feel more confident in using the collectivo vans as well now (from reading)... as at first seemed a bit dodgy... even then the price of the ado bus to get to coba/tulum etc is pretty cheap.
We are aiming to do the following now:
1 (Wed 5th May – wife Bday)
Playa Del Carmen, then collective to Akumal? (light)
2 (Thurs 6th May)
Tulum (light)
3 (Friday 7th May)
Xcaret
4 (Saturday 8th May)
5 (Sunday 9th May)
Xplor
6 (Monday 10th May)
7 (Tuesday 11th May)
Cozumel
8 (Wednesday 12th May)
All Terrain Vehicle Tour (as Xel Ha is same as Xcaret)
9 (Thursday 13th May)
10 (Friday 14th May)
Chitzhen Itcha Tour (Fridays Only)
11 (Saturday 15th May)
12 (Sunday 16th May)
Isla Mujeres? – Swim with dolphins here?
13 (Monday 17th May)
Coba
Its my wifes birthday on the 5th May... do you think the hotel would do anything? or can anyone recommend anything special for me to suprise her? (I will have the 4th to try and organise it (1 day notice eek!).0 -
Suppose to fly off to cancun this Thursday coming, and it's becoming ever so clear that we might not even get to fly due to this eruption, unless the wind turns, will b praying hard for the wind to turn, will be so disappointed if don't get to go. And if we do get to go, I don't realy get stranded in Mexico.. Dielama.. All very sad realy0

-
We are going thursday neas and I have just looked and the weather doesn't look great, alot of rain expected :mad:0
-
I saw that too... but when its raining its not like raining in our country... at least not normally... its usually like 20-30% chance of rain... it rains for 20-30 mins then stops for an hour or two then rains again a bit. Also its hot rain like a shower so not as miserable as normal
. Still obv would like sunshine.

Going in July for a week and staying at the Celuisma Imperial Las Perlas! I know it's not one of the best hotels there in comparison to a lot of the others but we got a deal of the hotel (all inclusive), flights, baggage, transfers all for about £700, which is worth it! Anybody else been or stayed at this hotel?0

Theres 3 eco parks... Xcaret (said to be best of 3), Xel Ha (similar to Xcaret but with bigger dolphin pools) and Xplor (which basically has Zip lines, small 'atv's uderground rivers and boat swims. If you do all 3 and book on their website (would have to have a credit card that doesnt screw you over... i.e santander zero card) its 200 USD each for all 3 parks. .
Can you give me the name of this tour company?
I want to do Xel-Ha, Xcaret & Chichen Itza & I'm not sure what else.0 -

We are staying at the Sensatori & I think you need to get a cab to the highway to get a bus.
So I think this would make public transport DIY tours less MSE for us?0
