Sony Vaio - Amazon HELP where can I get an independent inspection???

To cut a long story short, I need somewhere that will do an independent inspection of my Sony Vaio Laptop, battery and charger, as I am in a dispute with amazon over a fault that has occurred.

Can anyone help?

Background:
I have had a Sony Vaio bought from Amazon a year and a half ago. The warranty was for one year. My battery started losing charge after about 4 months, it would only last for 5 minutes and shut down. I did not contact anyone about this because I settled for using it with the charger, I don't often take my laptop outside of home.

Now the charger has stopped working, from what I believe is overheating because it gets VERY hot, as does the battery. I contacted Amazon and Sony who both say that they will not do anything out of warranty, even though I am pushing the fact that it is not reasonable for a £500 laptop battery and charger to be expected to last a year. Sony want me to pay £200 for a new charger and then pay for repair of the battery, which I refuse to do as I cannot afford this and if I could I wouldn't pay that as it is almost the cost of the laptop itself.

I have called consumer direct who told me that this is unreasonable durability for the product, and that under the sale of goods act this is a breach of contract and that I have 6 years to claim breach of contract on the basis of a manufacturing fault leading to a sub-par product. Amazon are not biting this and say that the item has to be faulty at the time of purchase.

Contacted consumer direct again who told me to inform Amazon that I do not believe it is my fault and as such it is a manufacturing fault and that I will be proceeding with an independent inspection. Amazon again, did not go for this and basically told me to go away and contact that with the results of the inspection if I go through with it.

So now I am looking for an independent inspection. Where can I find one? And how much will it be?

Sony Vaio's are known for having battery and charger problems. I googled this and there are tons of people who have had the same problem I have had and who have had to pay to get it fixed, even though it is obviously a Vaio problem because mostly everyone is having it. I would get it fixed if I could afford it but I cannot and I don't see why I should have to if it is not my fault.

Please help.

Mine did this and the fan started making a funny noise luckily I had only had it 7 months and bought it from tesco online they gave me a full refund :)

I hope you get it sorted soon, But sony do have a big law suit against them at the moment because of the vaio.

Sony had a massive problem a while back, check this out and see if it relates.

You knew about the problem within the warranty but chose to do nothing about it will not help.

I think you will also find they will treat batteries as consumables.

Unfortunately I don't have a TZ series. I have NR32M/S. When I checked Sony support with my serial number it said that my model had problems with AC adapters and that they were recalling certain laptops but that my laptop in particular was not affected.

And Hintza, I know I am kicking myself but I do not like to make a fuss. I won't even return clothes when they don't fit well. I was happy to use it with the charger cause I thought that would be easier than calling up customer service and arguing my case. But I really feel this is out of order now the charger has broken - I expected Sony Vaio to last longer. I know people with Acers and Dells that last longer and they paid half the price!

    Pretty straightforward.

Clearly from a profession in the field. A computer repair store. a small independant one or you can go to pc world tech guys im sure they will do it for you.

But pretty much any pc store.
