Just wondering if any of the biker type MSE folk out there have had any experience with draggin jeans/cargo pants etc. The speel on the website says they are just as effective as textile trousers but i would like to see if anyone here has any knowledge/stories about thier effectiveness before i commit my hard earned and buy a pair.

cheers

well fortunately i haven't actually had to test them out myself but i have a pair and they are very well made and seem like they will hold up to abrasion well.

there are a few threads on the visordown forums including people who actaully have fallen off on them and the consensus is that while it will never match up to the protection of properly fitted leather/textile trousers, it is a satisfactory alternative in hot weather. i think most people who have crashed were uninjured but i don't think the crashes were especially high speed.

fyi i got mine from the ebay seller riderz_co_uk - they sell them supplied with knox armour which normaly makes them a lot more expensive and costs less than in my local bike shop

  • also consider www.hood-jeans.co.uk as an alternative to the Aussie ones. Made to your measurements too, I believe.

VD consensus is .... decent protection taking into consideration that they're cooler than leathers, warmer than normal jeans and you mileage might vary on whether comfort is better than safety with regards to the armour. Also the method of sticking the armour in varies between them.

Also look for denims from Hein Gericke as an option. HG also do some lightweight armour that velcros in, IIRC.
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?

Draggin are one of a number of kevlar reinforced jeans for bikers. Alternatives are Gialli and Hood (already mentioned here).

I know a number of people with these types of jeans and they swear by them. None have crashed in them though!

What bike do you ride? Some bike clubs get discounts for their members. My club for example gets 10% off Draggin products - http://gsclubuk.net

Personally I'm happy to stick with good old leather, but I am very tempted to change to Draggin given the recent hot weather.

    regards,

cheers for the help guys.. I am tempted by the hood concept 6 jeans. I ride a fireblade but would only be using these jeans for commuting as the hassle and time of getting all my gear on and off when i get in means i am hardly using the bike at the moment and i want to get back into using it daily.
