why only some words automatically complete

I am using Excel, but this could apply to Word as well i guess. Why do some words automatically complete and not others. Would save a lot of time if the repeating words would all come up autocomplete

I think/seem to remember that if you have a blank cell in a column
eg
Alpha
Beta
Delta
B....Completes as Beta
D...Completes as Delta
........................................Blank Cell
D does not autocomplete

If, say, in the same column you have an alpha, a beta, a gamma then A, B, or G should autocomplete.

If however you've got something like:

Jim's rent
Jim's car loan
Jim's Insurance

Then it can't autocomplete until you start the word after "Jim's" - as it doesn't know which one you want.
