Fixed Price offer by EDF
Hi, I've had a fixed price offer from EDF, fixing my prepayment electricity meter rates (no gas) untill 2010. What they don't tell you in the letter, but they do on the web site, is that there is an additional charge of something like £1.10 a month. Would this be a good deal?
cheers,

I would suggest not, My own feelings are that the market will become stable. It just depends if you think the prices are going to continue to increase.
BG would not be offering a reduction with their fix and fall deal if they thought the wholesale prices would continue to increase!
Gas is more likely to cause us all problems.
Wait til you get a few replies here tho before making any decisions!0 -
actually yeah thats true if you sign up on the website, but if you sign up for fixed prices over the phone you don't pay the extra0

The question of fixed/capped price tariffs has been covered many times on this Forum and the simple answer is nobody knows if it is a good thing - it is simply a gamble.
So any replies you get are just an opinion.
There is no doubt that historically fixed/capped deals turned out to be good for the consumer(because prices have kept increasing) but there was lots of advice against them.
It is not the end of the world if you guess wrong and go on a fixed tariff as the penalties for cancelling are not huge. Look on it as a bet with even odds..0
