Sometimes it's just the opposite. You're too qualified. And because of that the employer is aware that you wouldn't want to push trollies for too long, maybe just as a stepping stone until something better comes along.Just had a refusal email again! This time for a job as a trolley collector at a supermarket, I think it's a bog standard email but it says that I lack the qualifications to do the job!
Just for the record i do have various qualifications, quite a few GCSE's, Various NVQ's and i'm about to start a degree next term.
And because of that, it means having to spend time, effort and money in finding your replacement when you leave soon-ish after.
Not to worry, something will come along. Retailers usually start looking for temp cover for the summer around about now. Have you checked the local shop windows?0 -
I don't understand what all this blah blah 'experience' blah blah 'SIA' is about. I started working the evening shift for Sainsburys when I was 16 with nothing but GCSE's. I regularly collected trollies, often late at night.0

We had 268 applicaitions for a 3 day a week admin post. It took me 3 weeks to shortlist the bugg3rs at home.
No s0dding way I'm prepared to write an individual rejection response for each. Most I do is a line about why they've not been shortlisted in the online field in case they come back to claim they've been unfairly not shortlisted."This is a forum - not a support group. I can certainly see what you saying with regard to shortlisting, however surely you would provide a more detailed response to those who were shortlisted and interviewed? As l said in my response to the OP above, candidates have taken time to complete application forms in hopefully an acceptable way, and presented themselves at interview and hopefully you would agree for some people job interviews are not the easiest things so don't they deserve a little more than a standard response.0 -

I said that I filled in a line for each appliction online about why I hadn't shortlisted, but saw no reason for an individually tailored response letter to 268 applications unless the person had come for an interview.

No its wasn't Sainsbury's, Online test? Really they do stuff like that for low paid work. I think I should consider doing a PHD soon as there is a job gong at my corner shop!:D
I once sat an online questionnaire, competency-based test, CV upload, a really hard maths test, a phone interview, group interview, and a face to face interview for a bank job that paid £14k. This was in 2008.
In 2009 I sat an online questionnaire, competency-based test, CV upload, phone interview, group interview and two face to face interviews for a 16k bank job.
And in 2004, I applied for a graduate placement year with BMI. Online questionnaire, competency-based test, maths test, psychometric test, phone interview, group interview (250 miles away in London), and a final face to face interview. I got the 'job', but had to decline for financial reasons in the end, as they couldn't place me up North due to unforseen circumstances, and this glorified apprenticeship paid £12k, and involved dogsbodying alongside people two years older, on double-triple that salary.
And they're just the jobs I was lucky enough to get
Current job pays around 19k and the application process consisted of an agency forwarding my CV, and a 5 minute, extremely informal interview. It's hard graft just getting to a state where your CV can kind of speak for itself...and on my current pay grade, I've still got dozens of career ladder rungs to struggle up yet!£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500
"3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600 :eek:0
