Just had a refusal email again! This time for a job as a trolley collector at a supermarket, I think it's a bog standard email but it says that I lack the qualifications to do the job!
Just for the record i do have various qualifications, quite a few GCSE's, Various NVQ's and i'm about to start a degree next term.

Will you need to work when you start your degree in Sept?
If not, chin up, you only have a few months to go.
And funnily enough, you may find it easier to find PT work when you are a student
Good luck with it all x£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500
"3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600 :eek:0 -
What qualifications are they expecting you to have??0

I would bet they said experience and qualifications rather than qualifications and I suspect they would have been looking for customer service experience as well as possibly seeing a SIA type qualification as beneficial given a trolley collector is likely to spend significant time in the car park and be in a position to prevent theft from both customers and the store as a whole.
Health and Safety might be another benefit given they will likely have regular access to the external grounds and be in a position to spot risks and also minimise the risks from pushing trolleys into cars and people.0 -

Im doing my degree with the open university so i'm still gonna have to work, Well if i can find any!:D

Not sure who to direct it too within the company (head office not local store), but l would inclined to write a letter expressing your dismay and being clearly sent a 'standard' response to your application on the grounds that you do have qualifications. Its unfair to be treated in this manner when after all l'm sure you took time to read and complete the application form and didn't give standard answers to their questions.
Good luck with the ongoing job hunting, and remember the old saying 'Its their loss'0 -
I'd email them back and ask which qualifications are required for pushing trolleys, as you're willing to do any training required...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Just to point out, having qualifications and being qualified aren't necessarily the same thing.
I have extensive qualifications, but there are still jobs I wouldn't even be considered for. Supermarket work could be one of those jobs, no matter how desperately I wanted the position.
Most likely, they're looking for someone with relevant experience, and preferably someone who has little or no qualifications.
They have their pick of countless jobseekers, and are going to be very fussy in choosing exactly who they want.
I'm not remotely surprised when people with higher qualifications than GCSEs are not shortlisted for supermarket jobs, factory jobs, shop work, etc.£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
