ESA to JSA help please

Hi there,

I have recently failed my medical and really cannot face the appeal process they make it all so complicated, i have said i will appeal by sending the appeal letter but have now had a change of heart, could i just go onto JSA until i feel well enough to work instead.

I usually work part time even though i am ill but have recently had masses of stress and illness has deteriorated so just needed a little time out and now all this palava and i will be back to work in the near future and am always looking, but need help whilst getting better and i don't need any more stress from DWP, pathways to work etc...

Thanks for any help x

By all means you can stop your claim for esa and claim job seekers instead. You will need to sign the jobseekers agreement and go to the job centre to sign on and apply for jobs etc. It won't be a time out though

  • Why don't you call the CAB &/or Welfare Rights and ask them to give you a hand with the ESA Appeal?

All it takes is a phone call. Google local office, pick up phone, call and it's over :)

It's a lot easier than you think :j

You might as well appeal to be honest. Its the same money and there is nothing much to lose if you already considered going on JSA.
  • If you go onto JSA you will be expected to be looking for work and provide proof to the Jobcentre that you have done so. I think the appeal is probably the right way for you, ask CAB to help you.
