Hi
Anyone know of a decent website company, that for say £20-£40 per month will give you a free website and free shopping cart and allow you to update your details, sales etc as and when
so your basically paying for the hosting and website
thanks

Hi,
You're looking for domain name, hosting and shopping cart software all in one.
I would maybe suggest registering your own doman and buying your own hosting (you can get good hosting for less than £10 a month often with free domain name).
There are a lot of opensource shopping carts out there. Many are very simple to install. So you could invest your time doing it, and also means you have more control and generally have a better experience and they are completely free.
Check out my website in my profile, it uses a completely opensource cart. That's what you can get for free and a little bit of effort.
If you are just starting out you could try the all in one approach (I don't know any good ones though) but make sure you don't have to sign up for too long as I guess if your website takes off you might want something bigger and better.

Hi
I have the domain name
as you say , yep its the all -in-one I require, with ssl certificate, etc
basically say a website with five pages or so i.e a page for articles , contacts etc , plus the shopping cart, did call 1&1, to gauge their web templates, as the ones showing are pretty pants, and you have to sign up before looking at the wesite templates....
thanks for all the replies so far“When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” Socrates

I personally would suggest actually going for free shopping cart software and getting someone to help you make a site. It's not that big from what you say and I know someone who would do that and then some for £350. That's less than what you'd pay for 1&1 in a year and also the site would be created so you can add and expand it youself and you get a lot more control over it.
I would suggest against 1&1 as I think there are better options. It looks like the quick and easy way but I think quite quickly you'll outgrow it and want something else and have wasted you money.
It would be good if someone who uses 1&1 was on here to help you.
I just know from my own experience that opensource free carts that you customise youself do a very good job.0 -
Hosting can be had for around £20 a year, add around £10 a year for an SSL certificate (prices quoted from GoDaddy with very rough $ to £ conversion), that price could actually include a domain.
As for design, you'd be better with a custom design for the front of it, with a link to some open source shopping cart software.0 -
try fasthosts.co.uk. not sure on their cart, but they are very good with my domains..26/09/2017 - Started comping again. Wins so far: 1!

I have been using mriste now for 8 months and have to say for the price it can't be beaten.
Ok it's not the most advanced product on the market, but will suit the needs of most people who want their own site.
In the last few months the advances they have made are very good.
The forum is also superb with the vast majority of people very helpful and a font of all knowledge on how to get the most out of it.
If you decide to go ahead and use mrsite, look out for these people on the mrsite forum suzz/kevin/pitcherthis/fezzer/hollowitch. They have provided so much help to so many it is silly.0
