Crocus finished flowering - what to do with them?!

Hi

More questions from novice gardeners... our rather lovely crocuses have finished flowering. We have them planted in pots mostly. They still have the long green leaf strands.

We'd now like to plant around them lobelia etc., for summer colour - can we just plant around them and will the leaf strands just die back themselves or do we need to chop them down to soil level?

We'd prefer to leave the bulbs in place and plant summer stuff around them if we can to save having to replant the bulbs in the autumn.

Any advice gratefully received - thanks in advance.

  • Leave them. They will soon die down.
I wouldn't plant out lobelia just yet though.Plenty of frost chances could still see them off.
