Yes I use Skype with the "Three" network and a Skypephone and it works well with good speed on the 3g network.

Id recommend ~
removing AOL ANTISPYWARE (its cr*p)
Switching off MSN from starting with windows (Within MSN options)
Removing ZONEALARM FIREWALL (its cr*p)

AVG is also a well known resource hog but entirely upto you. AVAST and AVIRA are good alternatives

I doubt your machines infected but if you want to check ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

Unless you need to fully control all conenctions then windows firewall will do just fine
If you wish to replace then id recommend PC TOOLS FIREWALL
