hello forgive me if this has been covered as most will know i have 3 cats 1 currently missing UPDATE*** my tabby is now home alive and well bit scruffy but home thanks to chris for finder her alive, confirmed sighting is a possitive on shopwing the lady the photo graph she didnt take her in but has hung round with her kitty a few times at night.

my black licking friend has to be neutered chipped on friday, i was woundering whether a feliway cat pherimone diffuser will help her in her habbits and nervousness as we havent had her long and this is bound to cause her leaps and bounds off stress and set her back in her progress.

i was woundering whether these things actaully work! the cheapest place to get one and refills. PAH has the defuser and bottle for £29.99 and refills are £17.00 a time how they came to this pricing i dont know? does anyone know any online pet warehouses that do these thing for trade prices to the public? what are the pro's and cons and what is the ideal place to plug it in, do they have an affect on humens with severe breathing difficulties! is so i cant have it in the house.

great inpute will be appreaciated! thanks all for your ongoing support

  • Firstly, sorry to hear about your missing cat - hope you are reunited soon.

I'm a massive Feliway fan, it really chills out/destresses/relaxes my overly sensitive cat. Each vial lasts around a month, you might find that one months worth is enough to relax your new cat once they've settled in and had their op. I have one on the go permanently as the when it runs out the change in my cat is clearly visible - much jumpier and frightened of strange objects!

You can get it much cheaper than PAH prices, diffuser with vial is £22.18 delivered from VetUK. They're normally pretty quick at despatching, I get most of my orders within 2 working days - http://www.vetuk.co.uk/pet-stress-feliway-products-c-149_1/feliway-diffuser-pack-incl-feliway-diffuser-and-feliway-vial-p-334

I have quite bad asthma and have no problems with the plug in but I'm OK with regular plug in type air fresheners too. It says this on the feliway site - http://www.feliway.com/us/Frequently-Asked-Questions

Should you use the device if you suffer from asthma?

In addition to the pheromone content, Feliway® contains a paraffin-type mineral oil of a kind common to other air freshener devices. We are not aware of specific problems for asthma sufferers from such devices, however, if you consider yourself to be particularly sensitive or have had problems when using similar devices in the past, then we advise you to use the device only after consulting with your doctor.

There is no noticeable smell for a human from the Feliway so I don't think it should aggravate your breathing, and it is certainly worth a go as I too have found it very helpful in a multi cat house hold.

I recommend them aswell. It helped no end with my two cats.
    I got mine from ebay!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • What are the chances of it working to acquaint huge dog to a home of cats? Any tips on how I should go about this. Dog very friendly but size an issue.

    What exactly does it do?

Great to hear that your Tabby is now safe :j

Another vote here for Feliway, it works wonders in our house.

stripedwellies, if the cats are wary of the dog then Feliway could help. There is a dog version called DAP I think, which might help the dog settle in too!
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

UPDATE*** my tabby is now home alive and well bit scruffy but home thanks to chris for finder her alive

And she is almost certain to be pregnant so get her booked in to be spayed pronto otherwise approx 60 days from now you'll have a litter of possibly unwanted kittens!!

I've just had my Feliway Diffuser delivered today ... £22 from Vetuk.co.uk and includes a vial of liquid.

Hope it works as my eldest cat is becoming very clingy recently and keeps chewing her tail (OCD stress).

Google it for cheapest sellers - prices change regularly. I find it expensive even when I get it `cheap' but they do seem alot happier. Generally I have it in the house but only turn it on when I'm leaving them for extended periods: out @ work or overnight - that type of thing - or if builders have been pretending to do work on the building!
