Combi boiler fires up unnecessarily?

My central heating is off and the combi boiler is set to hot water alone.

But the boiler fires up in the middle of the night, when none of the taps are running. Any ideas why? Is this normal?

I thought I saw a post similar to this, but cannot find it now. So sorry if I am repeating someone else's question.

you need to check your manual, some combis have a preheat ( small amount of stored hot water facility )......Make and model of boiler is usually necessary to be able to advise, All the best ....Brian.....

FYI - Got a Vaillant combi boiler and it does the same. They have a preset allowing them to keep the water at your chosen temperature so that you get 'instant' hot water when you need it - even in the middle of the night! Mine only does it when the timer is on the 'on' position though, with some allowance either side of it..... check your settings.
