you are not quite getting the point made - there is no such thing as eggshell gloss or gloss with an eggshell finish . there's gloss paint which has a shiny finish , or there is eggshell which has a flatter - ie no shine finish .......... or if you want something inbetween - there's satinwood which is not as shiny as gloss but more shiny than eggshell

We used cream eggshell in our living room, and it still looks good after over 8 years. The white gloss we used elsewhere has changed colour, doesn't look so good etc and we've had to re-do some of it.

I'm definitely considering using eggshell again when we move. I have tried crown satin an unfortunately it marks very easily (newspaper fingerprints etc), so I'm thinking I won't use it again.

I'd be keen to hear what brands of eggshell are good quality and durable. Can't remember what we used, but it would have been Dulux or Crown (not normally a fan of crown though).

We use an 'aged white' period range by Crown for skirting and picture rails in our house and the 'brilliant white' Dulux eggshell for hallway etc. Crown appear to be very good, well in this experience. :)

You are after 'eggshell'. Don't mention gloss at all.

Gloss is glossy and shiny. Eggshell is dull and matt = Much nicer IMO

I use eggshell on my woodwork too, can't stand glossy, shiny doors etc.

Brewers do eggshell paints as do Screwfix. The latter have 2.5 ltr tins of it for £4.90. the also list something called acrylic eggshell (can't you tell i'm lookiing at their catalogue) in brilliant white or magnolia for £6.54.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

Just to add to the confusion - satinwood is somewhere between eggshell and gloss (eggshell is very matt, gloss is...glossy, satinwood has a sheen rather than a shine) and is also available in either oil-based or water-based.
