simplyremovals.co.uk - Anyone used?

Hi,

We've had a good quote for removals from simplyremovals.co.uk, but I'm wondering if it's too good.

Has anyone used them before?

They haven't come to visit to estimate, but have quoted based upon 1100cu/ft, which is exatcly what the people who have come to visit have estimated.

It mentions that the quote is not an entirely fixed charge and they may charge if they provide extra services or experience delays outside their control or the move is above 1st floor and you have not advised them etc.

What sort of price have they quoted you and from which area to which area?

Hi,

They have quoted just over £600 including packing for a 3 bedroom house to move around 10 miles.

Our quote includes the "delay" waiver and the disassembly of all beds, a large wardrobe and a cot. It also includes insurance.

We have read the terms and can't see anything that might catch us out (that we are aware of).

We're moving between two, two storey houses, so there shouldn't be a problem with the above 1st floor thing.

Thats about right for an independent removal company.

It sounds like you have covered all the bases, the only thing they may charge extra for is if they cannot remove large items such as sofas etc and have to start removing doors / windows or roping them out. This is unlikely if the items came through the doors / windows and you haven't changed the layout of the home since.

A lot of smaller companies quote a low price to get the business but don't tell you they have quoted on the basis of the job say taking 6 hours. Any work after this they then charge at something like £90 an hour. I cannot see anything about their delay waiver but assuming the wording is water tight and the quote details everything you should be ok.

Do not touch with the proverbial bargepole.

I really only needed men with a van as I packed myself but I wanted insured good movers. Frankly I would have been better off with men with a van. Thy estimated 2 hrs. It took nearly 6. They were 5.5hrs late. ( and didnlt bother to keep me updated. I wasted an ENTIRE working day). And the photos in the post on my website libertylondongirl (post entitled - moving into my new home August 2011) will show you the care and attention they used when moving into my new home.
